The Chesterfield Innovation Centres at Tapton Park and Dunston were built to provide modern high specification workspace and in-house support services to attract new innovative businesses to the Chesterfield area. The leases have “easy in/easy out” terms to encourage take-up and to allow businesses to adjust quickly to their changing accommodation requirements as they develop.
Both centres incorporate superb conference facilities that are available to both Centre tenants and to outside organisations. They are suitable for accommodating events with up to 70 or more delegates and are fully equipped. Refreshments and buffet meals can be arranged as required.
The two Centres, in partnership with the Derbyshire Chamber and Business Link, offer a high level of business support and a superb environment for business growth. This is recognised through their status as a European BIC and membership of the European Business Network through which businesses can access business opportunities throughout Europe.

As one of the leading higher education institutions in the UK, the university has a strong record of innovative and collaborative research. It has invested significant resources in its technology transfer infrastructure providing professional advice and support through the Commercialisation Office and a virtual incubator environment for academic staff developing commercial ideas. Between three and five spin-out companies based on university research and expertise are established each year.
Particular research strengths in healthcare and bioscience are reflected in the spin-out activity in this sector, and growing companies can move on to premises at BioCity Nottingham, a groundbreaking innovation and incubator centre, managed in a partnership between Nottingham Trent University, the University of Nottingham and emda.
Student enterprise is supported by The University of Nottingham Institute for Enterprise and Innovation, on Nottingham Science and Technology Park. The facility provides advice and assistance to undergraduate and postgraduate students with business ideas with hot-desk space and high-speed Internet access in a business environment. The lab works with hundreds of students and launches between five and ten business start-ups each year.
