This event is hosted by Scionix Ltd, a university spin-out and one of the world’s largest manufacturers of ionic liquids. It aims to commercialise the use of ionic liquid technology and has developed several technologies in the fields of metal polishing, plating, metal recovery, recycling and cleaning. 
A Leading Advanced Technology & Innovation (LATI) event In May LATI will be visiting Scionix Ltd, a Joint Venture between The University of Leicester and Genacys Ltd (subsidiary of Whyte Group Ltd). In 2006 Scionix won the National Energy Efficiency Award in the research and development category. This was for the development of a new type of solvent that is more efficient, recyclable and environmentally friendly. It is based on ionic liquids: non-volatile liquids that offer a clean way to carry out chemical processes, such as the electropolishing of stainless steel. Scionix is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of ionic liquids and has developed several technologies in the fields of metal polishing, plating, metal recovery, recycling and cleaning.
