BioCity and the Healthcare and BioScience iNet, supported by Medilink East Midlands, are delighted to invite you to their next evening seminar given by two of Nottingham's most distinguished scientists. The seminar will be about the ground-breaking work on 'green chemistry', a field in which Nottingham is a world leader. The aims of green chemistry are to find environmentally-friendly ways of making chemicals, more efficient use of energy, safer chemical products, renewable raw materials, 'zero-waste' processes and related research. Green chemistry is the focus of ‘DICE’ Driving Innovation in Chemistry and Engineering, a £4.4m research centre that had its official opening in January 2008. Professor Martyn Poliakoff, FRS, CBE, one of the DICE project leaders from the School of Chemistry, will explain his work in the search for new chemical reactions, catalysts and processes. Professor Steve Howdle will talk about the use of supercritical fluids to replace volatile and potentially toxic conventional solvents which have led to advances in the fields of medicine and the environment. Date/Time Tuesday 29th July 2008 5.00pm - 7.30pm Format of the evening: 5.00pm - Registration, tea and coffee 5.30pm - Professor Martyn Poliakoff 6.00pm - Professor Steven Howdle 6.30pm - Q&As followed by networking, drinks and nibbles Venue BioCity, Nottingham To book your place at this event, please book online at: www.medilinkem.com or call Bushra Sim on 0115 912 4337 email: info@medilinkem.com For further information about anything listed in this broadcast, please contact info@medilinkem.com, or call 0115 912 4337
