Business opportunities in the Isle of Man: travel grant available for market visit (29th-30th June)

As part of the Soft Landing Zone programme, a travel grant for up to £400 is available for businesses to take part in a market visit to the Isle of Man on the 29th-30th June 2008.

The agenda for the market visit is as follows:

  • 9.00     Overview of the Isle of Man (DTI)
    The Isle of Man is situated in the heart of the British Isles. The country is an internally self-governing dependent territory of the British Crown. As a separate country, independent of the UK, the Isle of Man enjoys a unique relationship with the EU, being able to trade freely within it yet not being encumbered by Directives affecting member states. Its tax-beneficial legislation, freeport, location and world class telecommunications make it a very attractive location for e-business.

  • 10.45   Establishing your business on the Isle of Man; KPMG a case study.
    KPMG is a global network of professional firms providing Audit, Tax, and Advisory services.Their association with the Isle of Man spans more than half a century. With seven directors and over 80 staff the firm provides risk advisory and financial advisory services to an extensive range of Isle of Man and international clients.

  • 12:45   Tynwald Mill 
    A meeting with the owner and IoM entrepreneur, Steve Bradley, and lunch in the on-site cafe.

  • 14.30   CUE Soft Landing Zone and Office, Domilicum Centre
    Soft Landing Zones help secure a safe and friendly environment for UK high technology SME’s to start up an overseas operation and undertake R&D activities through a network of Science Park offices.
