Udakka helps firms retain talented staff

Organisations keen to retain and develop their talented people are finding cost-effective solutions offered by staff management and retention specialist Marjolyn Oudakker.

Born in Holland, Marjolyn launched her business – Udakka Ltd – in The Hive business germination facility at Nottingham Trent University in October 2004. She conducts exit surveys within organisations in person, on-line or by phone, focusing on areas such as training and development with a view to reducing high levels of staff turnover and supporting Human Resources management.

Using HR software, she also customises induction surveys to help improve recruitment strategies and offers a unique corporate professional development system in response to statistics which reveal that 42 per cent of employees leave due to lack of development opportunities.

Marjolyn speaks highly of the support she has received from both The Hive and EMIN. She has particularly welcomed setting up business alongside other new entrepreneurs at The Hive. “At the start it can be a lonely business so it’s good to have people who are going through similar experiences within the same environment,” she said.

She has also made good use of EMIN’s mentoring services and supported learning opportunities such as workshops which have offered invaluable training in specific areas common to start-up enterprises.
