University of Leicester - virtual incubation

The University of Leicester has a wealth of research expertise and a track record of developing ideas with commercial potential. Building on this, the University has developed a support framework for the increasing numbers of University spin-out companies and others who may be wondering whether to spin out themselves.

The University of Leicester has developed a support framework that is aimed at University researchers, where activity is largely at a pre-incubation/germination stage. The University does not have a physical incubator as such but does provide virtual incubation in order to stimulate the creation of new companies and nurture and develop existing companies.

The University offers support to academics' aspiring ventures within the body of the University's relevant Research Laboratories.

Biobator is an initiative which promotes knowledge exchange & commercial activities resulting from research at the University of Leicester. Biobator explores and tests early stage commercial ideas and develops research & consultancy collaborations. It acts as a conduit between the University’s bioscience base, the commercial sector, regional and national support organisations and the wider community.

The Biobator is located in room 148 in the Adrian Building (School of Biological Sciences).
